Sisu Academy has a unique funding model because we leverage donations and fundraising dollars to build self-sustaining long-term funding. As the school building project is completed we will transition towards a non-foundation based revenue model.
Sisu Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a strategy to become financially self-sustaining.
With our vertical farm, cybersecurity agency, marketing agency, and embedded incubator the school will produce positive revenue to cover most operational expenses. This means a dollar donated today will have an impact for decades to come, opening the door for future students to receive the amazing opportunity to attend this unique educational program.
Business Lead Incubator - Some business solutions from the student-led IncuBeta will prove viable real-world opportunities. These ideas will be put into an entrepreneur-led incubator, where small-teams of talented business people will work to bring that idea to fruition. A small number of these companies' projects will create products or become stand-alone companies. The revenue generated from these efforts is what will allow our school to be tuition-free.
Student Access to Entrepreneurship - In this model, small groups of students are assigned a teacher and business advisor. For three to six months, these collaborative teams work together to solve a business problem. This collaborative, project-based learning will give students real-world, hands-on experience far beyond what a traditional textbook and classroom offer.
Phase One the First Class - 20 students, 2 teachers, counselors, support staff, data project, and maker lab
Through the generosity of individuals, foundations, and organizations Sisu launched with our first class in San Diego this fall. This first class will be supported by teachers and counselors along with a strong administrative staff. The building master-plan will be completed and constructed before phase two will begin. We also will launch our incubator with three companies.
Phase Two the Second Class - 60 more students, build farm, construction, data testing, more staff, launch IncuBeta and Accelerator
We will launch our IncuBeta and Incubators to begin working towards our self-funding model. The school will complete the farm, maker labs, and add more learning spaces. Testing and data will be analyzed to achieve optimal learning for every student at Sisu Academy.
Phase Three the Third Class - 90 more students, build library, more staff
The school will add a library through the a gift from an individual or organization. Our first class will be entering their junior year. The curriculum, testing technology, and Project Based Learning will be in pushing students into advanced placement programs, college bound opportunities and internships.
Phase Four+ the Final Class & On-Going Operations - 90 more students, more staff and graduation of first Sisu Class
The school will be fully functional, fully staffed and continuing to develop new curriculum based on data and collaboration. The Incubeta and Incubator will be turning out social good solutions, businesses, patents, licenses and products that will both impact our community and drive revenue to cover the operational expenses.
